Welcome to the blog that has all to do about Andalucia!
First up is something to add to the calendar for the horse interested. Every year in March, SACAB Coin takes place in the town of Coin which is located in the Guadalhorce valley, approximately 25 min drive inland from Marbella and Malaga.
Unfortunately this event doesnt seem to have its own website, so it has been difficult to find information about it. So what better to do than to go there in person. Which is what I did on Saturday.
The SACAB Coín is firstly about all the studfarms showing off their love purebred andalucian horses, or Pura Raza as they are called. I think up to 70 different studfarms and breeders were there with their lovely horses, stallions, mares and foals all on show.
So over the course of the long weekend the best of the young horses, the foals, the stallions etc. got selected and given their due prices and hnour to the stables.
There was further more a large exhibition hall full of stalls selling everything to do with horses and riding in Spain. Big andalucian saddles, lovely leather boots, the traditional outfits, the best horse fodder and since we are in Andalucia Spain, bars playing flamenco music, serving tapas and drinks.
Every evening a horseshow takes place entertaining the crowds. The entrance to the rest of scab coin is free, but the show in the evening cost 10 euros this year. The shwo lasted about 2 hours and had a lovely display of horsemanship in many different ways, as well as flamenco dancers and some quite acrobatic people.
So if you are into horses and think about coming on holiday here in teh winter time, why not coincide it with the SACAB Coin next year? It is really very easy to get to from the coast or Malaga airport, and a perfect place to meet every one in the Spanish horse world as well as people arranging horseriding holidays in Spain.
Or if you live down here, please do remember it next year as unfortunately there wasnt much written about it in the press.
